Three print formats to choose from

Once your calendar is ready, click "Print" in the editor. Every format works on regular printer paper.

Two-sided cards

The door with its number on the front, the note on the back. Twelve cards per sheet, printed on both sides and cut along the lines.

Folding cards

Works with any printer: print one-sided, cut out, fold in the middle and glue shut. The number on the front, the surprise on the back.

Poster with QR codes

One sheet with every door, each with a QR code. Scanning opens that door online, but only on its day.

Where do the cards go?

The cards fit into almost anything that closes. A few ideas:

Fabric bags

Hang them on a string or a branch, one card in each bag and maybe a treat.

Matchboxes

Small, cheap and quickly dressed up with washi tape. Fold the card once and it fits.

Paper rolls

Fold the bottom shut, drop in the card, fold the top. Painted, they look like little gifts.

Envelopes

Clip them to a string with clothespins and stick the number on the front.

A jar

Put all 24 folded cards in a mason jar and draw one every day.

Under the pillow

Sneak one card under the pillow every night. Works especially well for couples.

Rather write your own notes?

You can also start with an empty calendar and write every door yourself. Over 100 door styles are yours to choose from, and printing works the same way: as cards or as a poster with QR codes.

The bonus: the calendar lives online too. Whoever scans a code only sees the content on its day, and you can add videos or links that paper can't hold.

Frequently asked questions

Is the printable advent calendar free?

Yes. All you need is a free account with your email address. It keeps your calendar saved, so you can edit and print it again whenever you like.

Can I change the notes?

Yes. The template only fills the doors to get you started. In the editor you can change any note, write new ones or leave doors out.

How do I print two-sided correctly?

In the print dialog choose "Two-sided" and "Flip on long edge" and set the scale to 100%. Then every note lands right behind its door. If your printer can't print on both sides, use the folding cards.

What paper should I use?

Regular printer paper is fine. Slightly heavier paper (card stock around 65 to 80 lb) feels nicer and keeps the note from showing through.

Does it use a lot of ink?

The doors are printed in color. With the "Save ink" option they print as simple outlines, which saves most of the ink.

Can I give the calendar digitally too?

Yes. Every calendar has its own link. Send it, and a door opens on their phone every day. You can print it and share it online at the same time.

I already have a calendar. Can I still use a template?

A free account includes one calendar. If you already have one, you can delete it and start over with a template, or copy single notes from this page into your existing calendar.

Ready for your advent calendar?

Pick a template, edit the notes, print. Your calendar is ready in minutes.
